The Sheriff Station for the Rancho San Diego area is a 26,000 square foot Essential Services facility that combines separate adult and juvenile processing areas and 6 temporary detention cells, administrative and support facilities, investigative offices, interview and conference rooms, and a relatively small area open to the public at the main entrance.

It houses approximately 80 sworn staff, 12 professional staff, 10 reserve deputies, and 30-40 Senior Volunteers. The 24/7/365 station has an emergency backup generator with a 72 hour run time.

The site is situated off of Highway 94 and Jamacha Rd. near the Skyline Church. The 6 acre site has separate public, administrative, and patrol parking areas near the appropriate entrances. Two bio retention ponds treat stormwater on site, and drought resistant landscaping are incorporated on site.

The building materials and finishes incorporated in the construction of the Sheriff Station had a significant amount of recycled content, and helped solidify the LEED Silver Certification as recognized by the USGBC.
