Marine Corps Air Station

PROJECT:

48,000 sqft

COST:

$19 Million

COMPLETED:

July 2012

This Design-Build project included the design and preparation of construction documents including specifications and construction administration services. COAR Design Group (formerly Jeff Katz Architecture) and TB Penick & Sons, Inc. were selected based upon a best value analysis of qualifications and price. The project involved the design of a new Applied Instruction Facility for the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Arizona.

The 48,000 square foot facility includes classrooms and a 200 seat Auditorium. Also included were instructor offices for the full time staff of 150 people. The facility includes a variety of secure data systems within the classroom and Auditorium spaces, as well as full audio-visual design. The design was developed in a manner to allow construction activities to proceed adjacent to the existing, operational facility, without effecting on-going operations. Project plans were developed in Revit, allowing for complete BIM modeling of the facility in house.
