Say Hello To The 2020 Fire Station Design Award Winners
We are excited to announce that Coar Design Group (formerly Jeff Katz Architecture) was recognized with 2 awards from this year’s Firehouse Magazine Station Design Awards Competition! This award program recognizes outstanding architecture and design from fire departments across the United States. Selecting winners for this distinguished recognition is no easy feat, especially considering this year had more than 70 participating entries, 20 more entries than in 2019. Never-the-less, a panel of six judges consisting of fire department personnel, engineers, and architects evaluated each and every fire station, selecting one station from each category to receive a Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award.
“The Judges of this year’s 74 entries were impressed with the high standards for the health and safety of firefighters. The commitment to physical and mental health in the stations is obvious in almost every entry. Fire departments are more proactive in restricting toxins and carcinogens even before firefighters return and enter the station. Everyone of this year’s entries is a winner for its peronnel and the community that they serve.”
While there were many qualified candidates in the 74 submitted projects, Coar Design Group was honored with receiving 2 awards for Chula Vista Fire Station No. 10 at Millenia (Gold Award - Career 2 Fire Stations (under 15,000 square feet) and Lakeside Fire Protection District Fire Station No. 3 (Silver Award - Fire Station Renovations).
