Escondido Fire Station 4 was a design build collaboration and renovation project that included converting an existing outgrown station into a functional one that included 3 drive-through bays, 5 single-occupancy dorm rooms, full kitchen and day room, office, and ancillary spaces.
The construction completed in December of 2012 for $2.1M. The 8,800 SF station with stucco and stone wainscot exterior finish fit well into the neighborhood, taking color cues from the surrounding Kit Carson Park. The old house tower was kept as part of the new construction, and a new hose rack was placed at the back of the station for ease of use.
